The Municipal Environmental Health officer and management of the Ablekuma North Municipal Assembly embark on the evacuation of refuse at an abandoned structure at the Mallam market. This structure had been neglected for almost two decades, turning it into a chronic breeding ground for rubbish, weeds, and rodents.
The MCE’s directive for the demolition and subsequent clearance stems from efforts to decongest the market and improve sanitation.
The Clearance and Demolition of The abandoned property serves a dual purpose, thus, eliminating a major public health hazard (rodents, foul odours). And the cleared space is intended to be incorporated into the main market area, providing space for traders currently selling on pavements to relocate inside, thus improving safety and flow.
The Member of parliament together with the MCE engaged with the traders during the evacuation of the refuse and appealed for their cooperation to ensure the smooth transition and relocation exercise.
